Standing over 30 metres high with arms out-reached, Corcovado Mountain’s Christ the Redeemer watches over his flock below, some 700 meters below. Designated as one of the ‘New Seven Wonders of the World’ and part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the art deco statue of Jesus Christ is an iconic part Rio de Janeiro and recognized by people around the world. This pão de acúcar (view from the top) is not to be missed!
Nearby Sugarloaf Mountain competes in popularity, with its cable car trip through forested hillside. Climbing to a height of almost 400 meters, visitors are then treated with a fantastic 360 degree view of Guanabara Bay, and surrounding beaches, mountains and parks.
